Sylvia Hoeks ( 1983) is a European actress, born in The Netherlands.

During High School she gets scouted by Elite models, and she starts travelling as a model all around Europe for a couple of years. She finishes high school and attends the Maastricht Theatre Academy.

Right after graduation she makes her national breakthrough with the Jos Stelling film Duska (2007). She wins a Golden Calf (the Dutch equivalent of the Oscars) at the annual Dutch Filmfestival. Sylvia quickly becomes a wanted actress for both stage and screen directors and stars in prestigious Dutch TV series and theatre plays.

In 2011 Sylvia is presented at the Berlinale as Shooting Star, the unique Pan European initiative which puts a spotlight on Europe’s best actors.

Her international breakthrough in 2012 is after working with the Oscar winning director Giuseppe Tornatore, in his masterwork The Best Offer, starring next to Geoffrey Rush. The film is a major box office success in Italy, Russia and Spain.
In 2015 she works in several Film and tv productions in The Netherlands, Germany and Denmark and accepts the female lead in Luc Besson’s new action thriller The Lake, which will have its international release in 2017. In 2016 Sylvia will star in the new Blade Runner , directed by Denis Velleneuve.
